Each day is a new adventure...

Their Love Story...

Jim and Lisa grew up in the same hometown, went to the same high school, debated for the same speech coach, even had some of the same friends. But a five year age difference meant they met only briefly while he was in college and she was still in high school.  Through mutual respect and common interests a friendship was born, a seed was planted.

They traveled two different paths to experience life. College. Marriages. Living in different parts of the country. Four daughters between them. Careers. Great times. Hard times. Proud moments. Not-so-proud moments. They packed a lot in while exploring and learning through their separate lives.

More than three decades later, they reconnected over fajitas. Soon love bloomed. Their journey since has been a mix of joy and challenges, laughter and tears. Facing life's ups and downs together has made them stronger and more grateful.

Now, they invite you to share in their joy at the celebration of their marriage in the mountains on August 8, 2024. The chance to create new happy memories with family and friends would be the perfect gift as they embark on life's next chapter together.

CELEBRATE LOVE in the MOUNTAINS:

at the Wedding of Jim Summers and Lisa Wade

Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 5 p.m.

at Craftwood Peak

in Manitou Springs, Colorado

Join us for the wedding and stay for dinner, drinks, dancing, and other fun activities afterward.

FUN The wedding will begin at 5 p.m. with a cocktail hour and appetizers immediately following.  We'll enjoy a buffet dinner together then jump into fun on the dance floor, at the card table or the photo booth, or even outdoors with lawn games.  Festivities will continue until 10 p.m. We're hoping to make it fun enough that you want to stay!  Kids are absolutely welcome.

FOOD: Knowing that our friends and family have special dietary needs, we are working to make options available that will hopefully fit your preferences.  The buffet will feature chicken, beef, and salmon options, but also a variety of fresh salads, seasonal vegetables, and rice or potatoes.  However, if you prefer a vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or kids meal, please indicate that on the RSVP form and we'll fix you up!

DRESS:  As far as dress is concerned, we want you to be happy and comfortable and love the photos taken of you throughout the evening.  The wedding will most likely take place outside, and it will be summer.  While this is certainly not a black tie event, if you want to fancy up, fantastic!  If your best jeans and boots are about as gussied as you get, also fantastic! While Jim and Lisa will spiff up for this occasion, don't be surprised if Lisa ditches her shoes once they hit the dance floor.   She can only do "fancy" for so long.

Transportation ♥ Options

Whether you choose to drive or fly, you have many options for traveling to the Colorado Springs area. With two nearby airports or incredible views for an epic road trip, come for the wedding and stay a while for all the fun and beauty the area has to offer.

NEARBY AIRPORTS:

The Colorado Springs Airport (COS) is 16 miles from the wedding venue at Craftwood Peak in Manitou Springs.  Southwest, United, Delta, American, and SunCountry are among the major airlines that regularly fly into and out of the Colorado Springs Airport.

During our most recent trip, we flew through COS and it was a complete delight. The airport is way nicer than we expected, easy to navigate, car rental is a breeze, and the traffic to and from was free-flowing.  We will definitely look first at available options through COS anytime we visit Colorado.

The Denver International Airport (DEN) is approximately 86 miles north of Manitou Springs.  It's a huge, busy airport with a many airline and flight schedule options. DEN will have many more flight time and carrier options and prices may be a bit better. That said, car rental can be an adventure, tolls add up, and the traffic is usually less free-flowing than in nearby COS.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION:

If you fly into either airport, many ground transportation options are available.

  • Both airports offer a wide variety of car rental options.

  • Groome Transportation offers shuttle service from DEN to Colorado Springs for about $44 per person, one-way, if secured online.

  • From Colorado Springs you can grab the Mountain Metropolitan Bus that runs regularly to Manitou Springs. The ride from the downtown terminal to Manitou Springs takes 22 minutes and costs $2. Bus schedules and route information can be found here.

  • Manitou's Free Shuttle will take you from lodging options on the east end of town to the heard of the city and to the COG Railway, which goes to the top of Pikes Peak, and to the Manitou Incline -- all for free.  Learn more here.

  • Uber and Lyft are also local options. Consult their apps for current availability and pricing.

DRIVING:

If you choose to drive, please find a map of the area and address of the venue above.

WHERE TO STAY

The Manitou Springs / Colorado Springs area offers a wide variety of lodging options to fit every taste and budget.  From world renowned The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs to the eclectic Blue Skies Inn across the street from the venue,  you'll find a healthy mix of traditional hotels and motels, charming bed & breakfasts, and a huge variety of AirBNBs and VRBOs.

In the past, we've stayed at the unique Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort (off-street parking, interesting vibe), the Villa Motel (reasonable prices, walkable to downtown Manitou, free parking) and The Cliff House at Pikes Peak (historic hotel in the heart of downtown Manitou Springs, great dining, valet parking is quick and $15 per day with in and out privileges).

While many lodging options in Manitou Springs may be walkable to the active, historic downtown and an easy distance to the wedding venue, the many options in Colorado Springs and Old Colorado City (great little neighborhood with delicious food and eclectic shops) are also a quick drive or Uber ride away and may be more economical.

Two wedding guest groups have already booked 4-bedroom homes in Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs through VRBO to share with other guests pitching in to offset the cost.

We do not have a block of rooms reserved at a hotel.  The options are plentiful and varied -- something to fit everyone's personality.

We've also had great luck on AirBNB, VRBO, and Booking.com when reserving rooms, cabins, and entire homes in the area.
